Debate Time: Samchel or Samcedes?

So... today was supposed to be Interview's day but, to turn things around I've decided that today will be all about the new section of the blog: Debate Time! But don't worry because the new interviews (Yes, more) will be posted during this week.

And to start with a hot topic with this season of Glee: Samcedes VS. Samchel. Are they any good? Does Rachel deserves Sam? And Sam? Was Mercedes another victim of RIB? Why did they make them an item? Will Sam and Mercedes be endgame after all?

What everyone should know about Samcedes: They started secretly dating at the end of Season 2, when Sam came back in S3 he wanted to date Mercedes but she already had a boyfriend, then they kissed and swung between being friends or couple, at the end Mercedes left (Sam helped her with her dream to be a star). In S5 right after Sam moved to New York, Mercedes did too, and they began a serious relationship, where the main issue was Mercedes being a virgin plus she had to go on tour and broke up with him, Sam said she was his true love though.

What everyone should know about Samchel: 

Sam wasn't really attracted to Rachel back in S2 when she proposed him going to the prom together. They do flirted back in S5 a lot (Movin' Out), even though Rachel said to Mercedes that the flirt was no big deal. Then in S6 Sam got hypnotized by Sue and Rachel developed feelings for him actually. Sam started feeling the same, and their relationship is not a secret anymore. Even Mercedes gave them her blessings.

For this occasion we have Wendy (@lovelychord), Lilly (@ChillingWithLea) and Sylvia (@TeamSamcedes), who I  have already interviewed but their interviews will be posted later, and some others opinions from Gala (@ladelabotella), Almu (@AlmudenaAG), David (@MrDavidMichele) and Irene (@chordiemorris)

What do you think of Samcedes?

Wendy: I didn't hate Mercedes and Sam in season 3. Even if I have never shipped it. I didn't really cared about it to  be honest. In Season 5 they became annoying in my eyes. But that was because Sam was in New york for his career. Mercedes treated Sam as a dog. Like she is the boss and Sam had nothing to say. 

Sylvia: Their story has everything. From innocence and hand holdings in the season two, tenderly kisses in the third and passion in each of their scenes of the fifth one. There was also drama. Tons of drama. Their break up after the summer, Shane, Brittany, Penny... I never lost hope that one day they would get back but it was quite a surprise to watch their scenes in season 5. In each of them you could see the love they had and how important they are to each other. I don't know what will happen or how it will end but I wouldn't change their story for anything.

What do you think of Samchel?

Wendy: I like them and sometimes they give me feels. But it's not my biggest ship. Sam is a sweet guy and really cares about people. Rachel has been through a lot so I think she deserves a sweet person like Sam. Sometimes I think he doesn't deserve her because Rachel can be really selfish sometimes.  But some moments between them are so cute.

Sylvia: Samchel would have made sense if it would have happened in season 5, slowly, beginning as friends to get something solid and meaningful. Or even in the sixth, not having Samcedes in the fifth. But it did not happen and the writers ended up writing a relationship that has no future. A mockery and disrespect for the two fandoms and the characters that are part of them.

Gala: At first I didn't like the idea of them together, I wanted Rachel to be single because little time has passed since Finn's dead, but then the relationship grew and I liked it. 

Lilly: The thing that I like about Samchel is that he treats her with respect... so far that's what he's been doing. Also I feel like Rachel doesn't have to act different around him because they already know each other. 

Irene: I've always loved Rachel, same with Sam, due to that I've liked their friendship and little moments they shared (for example when Rachel and Finn gave back Sam his guitar or when Rachel encouraged him to follow his dream of being a model) To be honest I never expected them, after season 5, that they would end this way, their story line is beautiful, maybe not at the beginning with the hypnosis but then they started caring for each other, they're both happy. Sam cheers Rachel up and believes in her.

What do you think of Samcedes shippers?

Wendy: If you search Chord's mentions on Twitter, you know there was a lot of hate in the past from some shippers. And that is sick. Some just care about Mercedes and don't give a damn about Sam/Chord. But some are kind and care about both of them. And that is good.

Sylvia:  Overall, Samcedes fandom gets along well with the big fandoms: Klaine, Brittana ... and try to get along with everyone. Although it is not always easy because everyone has their tastes and you'll always end up in a fight, even though you don't want to, with another fandom that ships a character of your ship with another character.

Is Samchel a forced relationship?

Almu: I think Samchel is forced. I remember season 2 when Sam rejects Rachel and not a very good way. Yes, Sam may have changed but it is still forced. And mostly because is a nonsense from Sue. I don't believe Rachel needs a man. Whenever she's single they're trying to seek her a new boyfriend and I think that's unnecessary, a woman can live without a man. 

Sylvia:  Is a relationship in which we only know the POV of one character, while the other one is only to support her. How can we pretend to take seriously a relationship that was born out of hypnosis? How can we accept it when Rachel called Sam and Mercedes soulmates in season 5? What's Sam POV? Each and many more questions that makes me wonder if it was really necessary to break a couple and jettison a love story o several seasons just to write a relationship for eight episodes.

Do you think it would be fair, if the spoilers are true, if Rachel ends with Jesse?

Lilly:  I don't think it would be fair in the sense that in the course of maybe four episodes they had Sam hypnotize at first, than Rachel said she did had feelings for him but he didn't remember, and when they finally get together they decide to forget all that happen and get her another love interest. They will need to have a good enough explanation as to what happen between Samchel that made them split up and get Rachel to be with Jesse.
Wendy:  True or not, we already know that St. Berry will be endgame. So it's okay. Glee mistreated Sam so many times, I won't be surprised... 

Irene: I don't think Samchel will be endgame with all the St. Berry spoilers, but I would like it to be because they're happy and I love both of them, plus, their duets are perfect.

Finally, will Samcedes be endgame?

David: Sam has to end with Mercedes. I like Samchel but just as friends. In some kind of way we got Samchel out of nothing and they're going really fast.

Gala: I think Sam's good for Rachel and I think  there's no one better for Rachel than him to finish the show, otherwise they wouldn't have pair her with Sam  and she would had been reunited with someone like Jesse and that would had been a tragedy. Samchel OTP. 

Almu: I think is one of the couple which makes more sense, they have a past and their story is beautiful. But as always they fuck up the best and what most of the people like.

Sylvia: I no longer expect anything from Glee. There comes a time when you realize that things will never happen the way you dream them. Ryan said he had a list of things that Gleeks wanted in the final season and until today  we have not seen anything from the Samcedes list has accomplished. Could it happen? Yes, no ... Who knows. Do we deserve a happy ending as other fandoms after all this torture? Yes, definitely. What will we have? I do not know. And if so, will we forget all the drama? Sadly, I do not think so. The Samcedes fandom has struggled as much others: making trends, voting in polls, comment on posts, articles, tweets. It is a great pride for me to be part of it. We are a family. May we have that happy ending that we crave. Hope is the last thing you lose, and the fandom Samcedes never lost it.

Well, fellas, whatever it happens... I think this was a good beginning for the section and I, again,wanna thank everyone who took some minutes (and hours) to answer me! Whatever you ship or whatever you like is ok, these are just opinions! :) 
And BTW the last news we know from Samchel are from Jane Lynch who said this: "There really is no Sam-Rachel relationship. I think they're just friends. That's all there is"
